Apply to the Gural Scholars Program

Program: Gural Scholars
Class of:

The Gural Scholars Program has seats open for the upcoming academic year first year cohort!

The Gural Scholars Program provides a four-year, need-based scholarship to Lang students with a deep commitment to civic engagement and social justice. But the Gural Scholars program is much more than a scholarship--it is a commitment to developing your work and identity as a social justice scholar and activist. As a Gural Scholar, you will think critically about your personal relationship to power and privilege and about how to challenge structural inequities and dismantle systems of oppression. The program lives within Lang College’s Office of Civic Engagement & Social Justice. From orientation to graduation, Gural Scholar cohorts work together to:

  • Bring theory to practice through year-long, 2-credit courses focused on social justice issues that culminate in end-of-year community projects
  • Build a community with one another and outside of The New School through critical reflection, ethical engagement, and activism
  • Connect with Lang faculty and staff through one-on-one advising, monthly gatherings, annual program retreats, and events on and off campus
